Sao Tome and Principe - The Directorate General of Natural Resources and Energy (DGRNE) recently embarked on a national touring exhibition on the topic of Integrated Water Resources Management. The aim of this activity was to raise awareness about specific water related problems affecting 10 communities around the island and show how IWRM can help solve these problems. A photo exhibition based on the entries submitted to the water4islands photo contest served to illustrate the sessions.
The entries of Mahesh Kumar Aungnoo, from Mauritius, and from Carla Rebelo, from São Tomé and Príncipe, were selected as the 2 winning entries of the Water4Islands Photo Contest organised in 6 Small Islands States (Cabo Verde, Comoros, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles and Sao Tome and Principe) to celebrate World Water Day 2017. The two winners will be given the opportunity to attend the Stockholm World Water Week from 27 August to 01 September 2017.
São Tomé, São Tomé and Príncipe - In the spirit of "Integrated Water Resources Management", the Ministry of Infrastructure, Natural Resources and Environment of São Tomé and Príncipe has integrated celebrations for the International Day of Forest (21 March), the World Water Day (22 March) and the World Meteorological Day (23 March) into a one week long celebration to raise awareness about the water cycle and its importance for the country.
