The entries of Mahesh Kumar Aungnoo, from Mauritius, and from Carla Rebelo, from São Tomé and Príncipe, were selected as the 2 winning entries of the Water4Islands Photo Contest organised in 6 Small Islands States (Cabo Verde, Comoros, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles and Sao Tome and Principe) to celebrate World Water Day 2017. The two winners will be given the opportunity to attend the Stockholm World Water Week from 27 August to 01 September 2017.

Moroni, Comoros - A Regional Training of Trainers on "Climate Change Adaption and Flood Management in the Context of Integrated Water Resources Management" was organised in Moroni, Comoros. Over 30 professionals from Indian and Atlantic Ocean Small Islands Developing States gathered at the Retaj Hotel from May 22 to 24, 2017, to attend the event.
Nairobi, Kenya - The "Water4Islands" is open to people aged between 18 and 32 coming from Cabo Verde, Comoros, Mauritius, Maldives, Sao Tome and Principe and Seychelles. It will be part of the World Water Day 2017 celebration in the 6 countries.
Stockholm, Sweden - The IWRM AIO SIDS project took part to the World Water Week in Stockholm, from 28 August to 2 September 2016. The Regional Coordination Unit took the opportunity to convene a seminar to highlight the ongoing work on wastewater management and reuse in Stockholm, Sweden - Small Island Developing States from the Atlantic and Indian Ocean. The CEO of the National Agency for Water and Sanitation of Cabo Verde, Hercules Vieira, and the Director of the Water Resource Unit of Mauritius, Lomush Joggoo, where invited by the project to share lessons learned and best practices during the event.
Negombo, Sri Lanka - Representatives from the UNEP/UNDP/GEF Atlantic and Indian Ocean SIDS Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Project attended to the 8th Global Environment Facility Biennial International Waters Conference (IWC-8) in Sri Lanka. The meeting gathered over 300 delegates to discuss how to speed up and improve the world’s response to growing pressure on transboundary fresh and marine water resources.
Colombo, Sri-Lanka - The fourth Regional Steering Committee of the Integrated Water Resources Management in Atlantic and Indian Ocean Small Islands Developing State project was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 06 to 08 May 2016.The three days meeting gathered high-level government officials from the six participating countries, national stakeholders, demonstration project managers and representatives from the UN agencies involved in the project.
Mauritius, Grand Baie - The Minister of Energy and Public Utilities of Mauritius, H. E. Ivan Collendavelloo, officially kicked off the World Water Day 2016 celebrations by launching an exhibition on water at the "La Marie" water treatment plant, the biggest plant in the country. The three-day event on the theme “Water and Jobs” was organised at the initiative of the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities in collaboration with several ministries and departments.
