Sao Tome and Principe Embarks on Touring Exhibition

Sao Tome and Principe - The Directorate General of Natural Resources and Energy (DGRNE) recently embarked on a national touring exhibition on the topic of Integrated Water Resources Management. The aim of this activity was to raise awareness about specific water related problems affecting 10 communities around the island and show how IWRM can help solve these problems. A photo exhibition based on the entries submitted to the water4islands photo contest served to illustrate the sessions.

Mahe, Seychelles, 12 July 2017 - The Cabinet of Seychelles officially endorsed the very first National Water Policy for Seychelles, as well as a national integrated water resources management (IWRM) plan and the drafting of the new Water Bill. The implementation of the new Water Policy will be done through the 5 year IWRM plan and will start immediately with the drafting of a new Water Bill.

Water Actors Meet to Discuss IWRM Demonstration Project in Maldives

Male, Maldives - A two days workshop on groundwater protection through sustainable integrated water supply systems was organised in Male. A demonstration project, which is to be implemented in Alifu Alifu atoll Thoddoo island, will pilot the system by harnessing rainwater and desalination to reduce overreliance on vulnerable groundwater while also promoting good practices to reduce and control groundwater pollution by agrochemical inputs.
