Mauritius, 03 September 2017 - A gender awareness workshop was conducted by the Ministry of Energy and Public Utilities of Mauritius . The event gathered 18 participants, among which high level officials from the Central Water Authority, the Water Resources Unit and the Wastewater Management Authority. The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Mauritius also attended and participated in the discussion. Mahe, Seychelles - On 29 August 2017, the ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change of Seychelles conducted a training on negotiation, conflict management and resolution mechanisms in the context Integrated Water Resources Management. The training gathered 18 participants, among which members of Caiman and Val d’En D’Or watershed committees established by the Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EBA) project that is also implemented by the ministry. Moroni, Comoros - On 31 August 2017, the Ministry of Production, Environment, Energy, Industry and Crafts of Comoros hosted a stakeholder workshop to validate a National Plan on Integrated Water Management. Male, Maldive - The National Water and Sewerage Policy was launched today by His Excellency Minister Thoriq Ibrahim at a ceremony held at Champa Central Hotel. Speaking at the ceremony Minister Thoriq expressed that the main objective of this new policy is to ensure access to safe water supply and adequate sewerage services by adopting cost-effective, environment friendly and appropriate technologies and strengthen legal framework. Sao Tome and Principe - The Directorate General of Natural Resources and Energy (DGRNE) recently embarked on a national touring exhibition on the topic of Integrated Water Resources Management. The aim of this activity was to raise awareness about specific water related problems affecting 10 communities around the island and show how IWRM can help solve these problems. A photo exhibition based on the entries submitted to the water4islands photo contest served to illustrate the sessions.
Quatre Borne, Mauritius - The development of guidelines for industrial effluent discharge permit was the focus of a two-day stakeholders’ consultation workshop which was held at Palms Hotel in Quatre Bornes. Some 40 participants from different ministries, relevant parastatal organisations and industrial enterprises gathered to discuss a national strategy for the industrial effluent control and environment protection.
Mahe, Seychelles, 12 July 2017 - The Cabinet of Seychelles officially endorsed the very first National Water Policy for Seychelles, as well as a national integrated water resources management (IWRM) plan and the drafting of the new Water Bill. The implementation of the new Water Policy will be done through the 5 year IWRM plan and will start immediately with the drafting of a new Water Bill.

City of Praia, Cabo Verde - The National Water and Sanitation Agency organised a two days training on "Conflict Management and Resolution Mechanisms in Integrated Water Resources Management", in the city of Praia. The event was targeting technicians and agents from the water and sanitation sector and aimed to strengthen selected institutions.
